- Formal Education & Business Experience: Candidates must possess a four-year degree (Bachelor’s or global equivalent) with at least eight years (96 months) of professional business experience, OR a high school diploma/associate’s degree (or global equivalent) with a minimum of twelve years (144 months) of professional business experience.
- Extensive Portfolio Management Experience: A minimum of 6,000 hours (for degree holders) or 10,000 hours (for diploma holders) of non-overlapping professional portfolio management experience is required. This experience must clearly demonstrate involvement in managing multiple portfolios, distinct from solely program or project management roles.
- Foundational PMI Knowledge: A solid understanding of project, program, and portfolio management principles is essential. Prior familiarity with PMI’s ‘A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)’ and ‘The Standard for Portfolio Management’ is highly advantageous for contextual understanding.
